Razer Gaming Phone – Officially Announced

Razer, one of the most popular gaming companies, just announced the release of their smartphone, which is created to offer gamers everything they need for a portable gaming machine. The company is well-known for their products like gaming mice, keyboards, pads, headphones and etc.

This will be their first generation gaming phone, and they will surely put in the effort to not let their fans down. The hardware inside is powerful enough, to run any game on the market right now, and the design lets gamers enjoy the graphics and gameplay on an ergonomic body, with Quad HD display and newly developed technology that delivers refresh rates up to 120 Hz for no lag or stuttering.

The company announced, that the release date will be November 17th, and the phone already has an audience that’s waiting for it to pop-up and rock the latest games out. It will operate on Android 7.1.1 software and will feature incredibly powerful hardware and audio system!

Design

The design of the phone is perfect for both horizontal and vertical use. The dimensions of the phone are 158.5 x 77.7 x 8 mm and it has a fully aluminium body coverage, which combined with the hardware and display makes a total of 197g. It’s not the lightest phone on the market, but its purpose is not that – it’s a gaming phone that requires slightly heavier features to offer the best performance.

On the front, it has a 5.7 inches display, with 1440 x 2560 pixels resolution and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The  Dolby ATMOS sound system is located on the top and bottom lid of the phone and offers cinematic sound experience all around you through front-firing speakers and dual amplifiers.

The form of the phone is rectangular and the only buttons are on the side. There are two volume buttons sit on the left side, a USB Type-C charging port is on the bottom edge, and the power button/fingerprint reader combo is on the right side. It’s a nice change to have the fingerprint reader on one of the side edges since you naturally pick up your phone that way. Right-handed users could set their thumbprint to unlock the device, while left-handed users could use their index fingerprint.

Camera and software

The camera on the phone is pretty much on point! There is one on the front, and on on the back of the phone. The main camera is 12MP, while the front one is 8MP, which is similar to the top-notch phones right now. It has 2x optical zoom, phase detection autofocus, and dual-LED (dual tone) flash, HDR, panorama, geo-tagging and is able to take 2160p videos at 30fps.

The phone is currently about to work on Android 7.1.1 (Nougat), but from Razers say, that they will upgrade to Android Oreo by the start of next year, so bear in mind that if you buy the phone, you’ll have the privilege to update to the latest version of Android in future and you will be guaranteed the best support and new app updates at any time.

Specs, performance and display

Razer Phone is built to perform and operate at the highest level possible, so it could power any game that the user wants. The chipset used is Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, with Octa-core processor and Andreno 540 GPU.When it comes to internal storage, it is important to mention that there is a 64-gigabyte (8GB RAM) version only but you can use a micro SD card, up to 256GB, because the phone is compatible with such.

The 5.7″  display is not AMOLED or OLED, but IGZO LCD at 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution. The amazing-looking screen is backed up by UltraMotion technology that delivers refresh rates up to 120 Hz.And with a Quad HD display boasting wide colour gamut, everything looks vibrant and sharp. The UltraMotion technology means that while playing, the user won’t experience lag or graphics stuttering.

This mega-monster portable-gaming machine supports both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections at the quickest and latest level possible, and if you are unlucky to lose it, you could trace it via the A-GPS built-in connection inside. The power is delivered from a 4,000mAh battery, that is one of the largest capacities available and offers hours of gaming and movie-watching before the need of another charging.

The price of this Play-Station Portable reminding device is $699 and the Razer Phone does not step back to the top-selling phones right now, so I can say that the pricing is fair.
