Sony GTK-XB90 – A Powerful And Portable Music System

From the well-known company for their gamer-era changing PlayStation series, Sony, recently announced and released their portable audio system and it’s surely not a one and small speaker, but 3 tweeters and 2 woofers in one average size case, perfect for carry-around and the right party tool for you anywhere!

With deeper bass, multiple Bluetooth connectivity at the same time, Party Chain (lets you expand your speaker system), input for mic and other, it will most definitely turn on your party and I will prefer it in front of any small speaker at any time. With extended battery life, loud and clear producing and awesome design it wins the stakes at any round.

Design

The way how this powerful speaker look speaks for itself before even turning it on. The front is covered and protected with a metal-mesh grill, infinity mirror lights and LED RGB’s that run along the front sides. Two 3-inch big speakers are located at the very top left and right corner, and one was added at the bottom-center. The extra bass comes from the two 7-inch big woofers, positioned vertically, and located at the very center of the front.

On the top are pretty much all the controls of the speaker that you need, with some additional features added. The first thing you see is the big SONY branding at the start, with a big handle on it to make it comfortable to move the 14kg sound system. Located on the left of the handle, you have your power button and play-pause-answer call button above it, while on the right you’ve got your extra bass and volume ones.

On the left, right above the handle, we could see two buttons – one is a stamina one, which you hit when your battery is low and save up to two hours of play, and a function button, that you use while switching between USB/Bluetooth and audio-in types of connection. The right side, above the handle, is used as a location for the wireless party-chain button.

The sides do not have so many things – just nice coverage with a SONY logo engraved on it, with 4 rubber stoppers on the left panel. The bottom also does not feature anything, apart from a handle and 4 other rubber stoppers. These stoppers on the side, are used because the speaker could be placed to work not only vertically, but horizontally as well. However, the backside is where all the non-wireless connection happens with a microphone, USB and other ports that let you connect it to your deejaying system.

Performance and pricing

The speaker is perfect for throwing any type of party, anywhere. Compact, powerful, beast-like looking, and energy-saving are all terms, that you could add to the characteristics of it. Got no mains electricity? The built-in rechargeable battery powers your party for 16hours with the speaker lights off and the volume turned to level 16. Even at full volume with EXTRA BASS and lighting on, you can party for 3 hours. If you’re running low, just activate stamina mode to make your battery last longer (up to 4.5 hrs).

Near Field Communication (NFC) and Bluetooth technology removes the need for wired connections and complex set-up sequences. Simply touch your NFC-enabled device to the speaker for a quick, seamless connection, then start streaming your music collection. No NFC? No problem. Connect via Bluetooth and you’re ready to go.

You can enjoy the huge variety of colors that the LED lights produce, and the effect that the infinity mirrors create.Positioned around the speaker lights, they bounce light back and forth endlessly, creating an energizing party atmosphere.

The price of the device is $449 on Sony’s website. It is a fair price for a device that powerful compared to the small speakers that are on the market (the “pill” Beats By Dr. Dre in the example). If you are a DJ or just a music lover, I am sure that you’ll appreciate and really enjoy it.

Thanks to Flossy Carter YouTube’s channel for the great review of the speakers!
