Xiaomi Mi 6 – The Xiaomi Flagship 2017 Phone

I love what I’ve already seen on the market as come-ups this year, and really appreciate the effort by Xuaomi to be unique and different from others. Their Mi 6 phone, which is the flagship phone of 2017 of the company, was released back in April and was liked by thousands and people hasn’t stopped making compliments about this device.

It is a powerful phone, with a design that reminds me of an iPhone, all the innovative features in one, and lots of internal memory as well as upgradable one. It lacks some features but they could be considered as sacrifices for a higher capable performance. The price range about this device is about $450, which is fair for the given features and the technology used. Compared to other products at this price, it has way more options, fingerprint sensor, protection and packed-up hardware.

Design

This smartphone reminds me of the design of the well-known iPhone. I bet that this was not the intention of the manufacturer because the company’s mostly known for their ambition to stand-up among the other phones out there and to prove their uniquity and capability. The Xiaomi Mi6 is available in three different color variants – black, blue and silver, and a black ceramic version with golden adornments around the camera lens. Not only has the screen diagonal of the Mi6 remained the same compared to the predecessor, but all the dimensions of the device are almost identical. They are 145.2 x 70.5 x 7.5 mm and make the phone feel incredibly good, while in the user’s hands.

The black, blue and silver color versions have the weight of 168g, while the beautiful and ceramic version weights 182g. A difference of 14g is more than perfect, considering how heavy the ceramic is compared to the other materials used in all of the “generic” color versions. The keys for the volume adjustment and on/off on the right side of the case are easy to reach and have a comfortable pressure point but it would have been great if they did feel so in the protective case as well.On the upper left corner of the back, is where the powerful and capable dual 12 MP is being positioned, with only the company logo in the center of the back panel.

Specs, display, and camera

The specs of this $450 smartphone are far beyond expectations and it packs one of the most powerful hardware inside, which combined with the given price, makes it a strong rival of the best flagship phones on the charts. The phone comes in three versions – 64GB and 128 GB with both backed up by 6 GB RAM or the generic 64GB internal with 4GB RAM. The bad thing about it is that it lacks micro SD card but it at least offers three versions that you could choose from and will suit your needs best. The processor used inside is an Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, that’s clocked up at 2.45 GHz. It unsurprisingly supports Wi-Fi (dual-band 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac) and Bluetooth 5.0.

Movin on to the display, we could see the 5.15 inches IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, that offers a presentation at up to 16million colors. The width of the display and the bezel-less sides add to the presentation and operation quality which adds to the experience of using the smartphone. Resolution is 1080 x 1920 pixels with a density of the touchscreen at 428 pixels-per-inch, covered by a Corning Gorilla Glass 4 and splash resistance technology for further protection.

The camera of the Xiaomi Mi 6 seems to take a lot of the best features from previous devices and puts them into one complete package. That’s definitely true for the camera, which is a dual lens system that provides a 2x optical zoom aside the original wider angle. Zoom can be quite important to shutterbugs and Xiaomi has done well to provide one for picture taking in particular. Zoom capabilities are unfortunately not available for video recording, which is a rather significant downside. The Dual 12 MP rear cameras will support you in any adventure, that you are ready to dive at!
