Motorola Z2 Force – Motorola Flagship Smartphone 2017

Motorola’s best smartphone for 2017 is thin, classy and with long-lasting battery life that could support you through your day and is the perfect assistant for you. It has lots of accessories, but it’s up to you if you want to use them because the phone works and looks incredible with no additional mods needed. The Motorola Z2 Force is coming at a fair price and aims at a bigger audience, so it’s created to suit the needs of most of us – therefore the chance you won’t like it is almost non-existing.

With a 5.5 inches screen, good hardware, powerful camera, extended battery life and good internal storage capacity, this smartphone is a beautiful addition to the technology market this year and I’m sure that it will continue the Motorola legacy. It’s a combination of last year’s ultra-thin Moto Z and the shatter-resistant Moto Z Force with fresh specs. The result is a thin and light phone, but one that retains that hard-to-break screen. One more good thing about it, is that all MotoMods – new and old – are compatible with the Moto Z2 Force.

Design

The design of the Motorola Z2 Force is different, combining both simple and rough looks at once. The Motorola Z2 Force is an ultra-thin smartphone at just 6.1mm and feels extremely lightweight at just 145g. On the front, there’s the 5.5″ big P-OLED display, with thin bezel frame and Shatterproof screen protection. There’s the Moto logo on the lower lid of the phone, just above the home button and the front camera is located in the left corner of the upper lid. In addition to the ShatterShield screen, its unibody design has been upgraded to 7000 series aluminum for a more durable frame. It comes in Lunar Gray, Super Black, and Fine Gold color options, each with an attractive brushed metal finish.

The sides are rounded and the buttons for unlocking and volume are there, while on the back the dual-camera looks really different from other models. It is horizontally positioned in the upper center of the device, with the LED flash under it and all of that is covered by a slightly big watch-like glass. The iconic Motorola logo is also located on the back, and moving down we could see a dotted rubber-like patch, that’s in my opinion for keeping the phone from sliding on slippery surfaces. The Shatterproof design of the glass means that it’ll be tough to shatter the screen, contrary to Samsung’s Galaxy series and Apple’s iPhone.

Performance, battery life, and camera

In terms of performance, It’s far away from an average phone. It packs an Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor clocked up at 2.4GHz and Adreno 540 GPU, all of which is driven by Android 7.1.1 OS. The operating system is planned to be upgraded in future when the Android Oreo OS is released. I like the internal storage capacity provided, which is 128/64GB with 4/6GB RAM.

Not that you’ll definitely need it, but there’s a dedicated micro SD slot too that could run a card with up to 256 GB storage capacity. It has a speedy Wi-Fi connection as well as Bluetooth 4.2 for easy pairing with other smart products. What I don’t like is that it does not feature s 3.5mm audio jack but has 3.5 mm to USB-C headphone adapter as a solution.

The camera is strong with this one, offering 12MP HDR main one with laser and phase detection autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, panorama and face detection. It is faster at taking pictures than the last year model and definitely shoots better while also offering 4K quality recording – a feature that is not seen on all flagship phones. The front 5MP camera has a standout feature of its own: a front-facing flash that’s better than a simulated display flash. You can also get a wide-angle 85-degree selfie on this camera with a f/2.2 aperture, which is helpful for group shots.

If you are a busy kind of person, you’ll like the battery life of this smartphone. The used battery inside is Li-Ion 2730 mAh. It would support you through the whole day and if you happen to need an on-spot charging, you have to wait not more than 30-40 minutes for it to fully charge, so you’d better wear your USB charger in case you need it.
