Uber Sets A Limit To The Tips Left By Passengers

Most of us are familiar with the big company that has a mission to help society with transport issues – Uber. Its main idea is close to a TAXI, but the difference is that 80% of the payment from the passenger goes to the driver and only 20% goes to the company. They use credit cards as a method of paying the final cost, but lately, there is news that they came with a ridiculous sounding idea.

Uber gained huge attention among smartphone users and open-minded people because the experience is different from this of a cab, it’s cheaper and it is easier. What is funny, however, is that if you happen to be the user of the Uber car, then you cannot leave the driver a tip that’s more than $30. Doesn’t that sound crazy? It has become clear that not only drivers but passengers don’t like this idea as well. I don’t either.

Finding a driver for the company has been an issue for a long time, and maybe it is clear why. The lack of staff in a company is always an indication that there’s something really wrong with it. “You told us what you want and it’s time we step up and give you the driving experience you deserve,” the company wrote on its website at the time. “Because simply put, Uber wouldn’t exist without you,”It was a move meant to showcase a new Uber, an Uber that appreciates its drivers. But the company didn’t say anything about a limit of those “I respect your service” money, that is a total act of generosity. There was a saying from one of the people who work as drivers for the company, stating the following:

“Generosity should be something, that you don’t put a limit on” – I completely agree with the driver who said this, and I would like to add that this shouldn’t go particularly for this case, but we should apply this saying more often in our lives at all spheres and daily life situations!

What Uber says about this limit, is that it is prevention against “fat fingers”. “You want to tip $10 but accidentally type $100 or $1,000. This way, you won’t have to go through the pain and hassle of getting your money back.” None of those things sounds serious to be, coming out of the mouth of a company, that wants to ensure drivers that they actually care about them? Speaking logically, if they do they’d be ready to find another solution to the problem, instead of finding the easiest way possible for the company to not get into trouble…

Uber’s tipping limit is “200 percent of the total, up to $100,” a company spokesman says. That lets a passenger, say, tip $50 on a $25 fare.  “Of course, riders are free to tip additional amounts in cash method if they’d like.”  But what happens if they don’t have any money in cash? I personally know people who keep just a few dollars in cash in their pockets, so they prevent themselves from losing all the amount of cash or the risk to get them stolen. Why doesn’t Uber executive look at all those problems from a different perspective? A problem could be always solved in multiple ways, so they should stop making excuses and start thinking about the staff before they continue to make bad reputation and lose everything they’ve built through the years.
