Facebook Users Spent 50 Million Less At The End OF 2017

Mark Zuckerberg, the owner of world’s biggest “social” media (Facebook), has reported to the mass that users overall have spent 50 million hours less on the platform, which was made intentionally, as he stated.

“Our focus in 2018 is making sure Facebook isn’t just fun, but also good for people’s well-being and for society,” he said Wednesday in a Facebook post. “We’re doing this by encouraging meaningful connections between people rather than passive consumption of content. Already last quarter, we made changes to show fewer viral videos to make sure people’s time is well spent. In total, we made changes that reduced time spent on Facebook by roughly 50 million hours every day,” he added.

Facebook also recently announced changes to the algorithm behind its News Feed to show users more “meaningful” posts from friends and family members, instead of posts from brands and publishers — an effort to make sure “the time we all spend on Facebook is time well spent.” It is a good step that Facebook’s taking, but is it the most helpful one? After many acquisitions that this social media affects how well people and the youth are informed, they take a step now, when it might be too late for all of us.

I really agree with the idea that this is one of humanity’s biggest mistakes and there are plenty of ex-workers for the company that unveil that the main idea when starting the whole project was to make people (users) addicted to the whole platform. We can clearly see that they’ve reached success with this idea and every year it is getting worse and worse… There are literally people that can’t spend a day without going on Facebook, which was pretty well-planned long ago.

What those ex-workers for the company says, and I assure you that they were in charge of some leading spots, is that the idea of making you addicted to it was backed up by psychological studies on how the brain works. The actual “Likes” are so addictive for some people, as they release short dopamine shots, that is exactly the substance that well-known to mankind drugs create to cause addiction to your brain. Isn’t that scary?

Not only that is really scary by itself, but people (users) who understand that and hear it from those who worked to make that gruesome idea possible – they don’t do anything about it? This indicates that most of us are really addicted to social platforms and they have actually made us more ANTI-social and ripped apart the foundation that was created by our grandparents, sacrificed all for the profit of big companies and mass producers, who don’t actually care about the future of mankind.
