Since it has been released at the start of 2017, the S3 watch holds one of the top-selling places. It is a sequel to the “Gear S” series, that are known for their fancy looks and outstanding performance, as well as features. The previous generation of the Gear series, the S2, looks like a standard watch compared to this one. Visually, the S3 is phenomenal, made to suit people of all kind. To start off, the display as I already mentioned is 1.3-inch big, with a circular bezel that makes the Gear S3 so effortless to use.It’s the strong and premium stainless steel is highly favored by traditional watchmakers, that give the Gear S3 the durability it needs to take on some of the most impact delivering outdoor activities. The bands are easily detachable and made of beautiful, smooth material that will feel comfortable while worn through the whole day. You can always choose a new watch band of your choice from the wide selection of bands from Samsung, so that way you’ll never get bored from the looks of it. And since the Gear S3 is compatible with standard 22 mm bands, lack of choice is most certainly not an option here.
The navigation hides in the design of this beautiful watch. You operate it mainly with the touchscreen AMOLED display and scroll through options with the rotating circular bezel. The back/return button is actually the upper one on the left side, while the one next to it serves as a home button. If you happen to double click the home button, you’ll open up the S-Voice command for even quicker and easier access. These buttons also hide other incredible and innovative options, that’ll we will get into ahead.
Performance and features
You’ll have a hard time finding out what this watch can’t actually do for you. It has all the new and innovative technology combined. The capacitive 1.3″ AMOLED display has the same technology used in smartphones nowadays, with 360 x 360 pixels resolution and a multitouch option.
The always on display and rotating bezel are covered and protected with a Corning Gorilla Glass SR+, which combined with the stainless steel and IP68 certificate, makes the phone extremely durable. It is created in a way so that it could survive if you happen to forget it before taking a shower because you’ll regret the $350 mistake you’ve made. It packs a dual-core processor, clocked up at 1.0 GHz as well as Exynos 7270 GPU. Internal storage is limited to 4 GB with 768MB RAM, which is more than perfect for a watch.
You can explore further capabilities, like accurate heart-rate meter, Wi-Fi connection, play the legendary Snake game, make phone calls, use it as a music platform, planner and many other. Never ever have I thought, that I could play games on a watch or check what my friends have posted on Facebook. You can trace your health with it not just because of the heart-rate option, but it counts the steps you’ve made through the whole day with a programme that operates in the background, that you can check at any time you want.
The Bluetooth connection opens up a variety of things that this watch could help you do. You can pair it with a wireless home speaker and start streaming music right from the watch itself. The music experience would be the best, in my opinion, if you connect the watch with a set of Beats Studio 3 or Sony WH-1000XM2 headphones. This way, you ensure yourself privacy, easy access, sophisticated look and movement freedom while listening to your favorite playlist. The Samsung Gear S3 watch costs $350/$400, which I find reasonable, considering all the things it’s capable of doing.
