SteelSeries Arctis 3 – Wireless Gaming Headphones

The famous SteelSeries had been longly considered one of the best gaming-related headphone companies and they recently made a strong statement about those beliefs. They backed them up by releasing the SteelSeries Arctis 3, which happened to catch the attention of many gamers worldwide and quickly gained popularity in the virtual-gaming world!

This pair is one of the few Bluetooth-enabled headphones, that are specially created for gaming purposes. Not only do they scream “Gaming” at first sight, but they perform awesomely and will have your back in any gaming situation that you happen to fall in! Nothing but great reviews have I seen/heard about these, so I am sure that you’ll not get disappointed by the overall product.

Design and sound clarity

The first thing you’ll notice about the headset is its design, and it’s a good-looking headset — though not all that different than the original Arctis 3. The headset is almost identically shaped to the standard Arctis 3, and perhaps the only way you’d know you had the Bluetooth version is through the label on the box and the Bluetooth button on the right ear cup.

Like the standard version, on the left ear cup, you’ll find a microphone mute button, volume wheel, inputs and outputs, and a retractable microphone. On the left, however, you’ll find a Bluetooth button that you can use to power on Bluetooth and pair the headset to your listening device. The headset comes in a range of colors, including black, white, blue, gray, and red. We’re reviewing the black pair, and we quite like the look of them.

Design and comfort are important enough, but in the end what really matters is how the headphones sound clarity. Thankfully, they sound pretty great, both in Bluetooth mode and in wired mode. For starters, the bass response is relatively nice and deep, though it could certainly use a little more of the ultra low-end, related to the reviews left behind by customers. The midrange levels are great and purely tuned, while the low mids help give the headphones a nice warmth, while the high mids are enough to give gunshots a serious crack. That’s also good news for those that game with others — you’ll be able to hear teammates pretty well thanks to the slightly boosted high mids.

Microphone

Generally speaking, the microphones on gaming headsets have never been all that high-quality. The microphone on the SteelSeries Arctis 3 Bluetooth sounds fine for most uses — your teammates should be able to easily hear your voice without issue.Still, I would still recommend a higher quality and dedicated microphone for those looking to get into podcasting or Let’s Play videos.

For everyone else, the microphone on the headset will be just fine and they’ll most likely fall in love with the overall performance and the communicative skills that this set of headphones has. What is more, is that this microphone is small and will not be seen as an obstacle, rather than a helpful option. Communication has always been a key part of winning, not just in games but in sports as a whole, so the microphone of any gaming headset shall never be underestimated!
