Google Pixel 2 – 2017 Second Generation Google Smartphone

Last year, Google stole the show with the Google Pixel and Pixel XL and gained fans worldwide. Lots of users, including me, found it more appealing and money-worthy than the iPhone. The quickness, responsiveness, power, and assistance that it offered were outstanding and a few days ago Google released the sequel to the series – Google Pixel 2.

The phone has slightly enhanced technical characteristics but the biggest and drastic change is the Google Assistant feature, that brings lots of other capabilities on its own. The camera is also improved as well as the storage capacity. The phone has 64GB and 128GB versions and Google also improved the storage space by adding a free cloud storage to save all of your pictures and videos. Additions to the design were also made, which transform the phone into an all-in-one device for every situation!

Design

The design is similar to last year and no big changes were made, except the fact that it is a fully waterproof device, which furtherly expands the photo-snapping experience, but this feature sacrificed the 3.5mm audio jack. The sequel has, as it did last year, a Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL version. I enjoy the way how it’s designed because it offers comfortable and good handling, which makes it easy to use for every activity.

The dimensions of the Pixel 2 phone are 145.7 x 69.7 x 7.8 mm with an AMOLED display with 1920×1080 full HD resolution. which is perfect for holding and operating the phone with one hand. The Pixel 2 XL is quite bigger with dimensions of 157.9 x 76.7 x 7.9 mm and pOLED screen (18:9) display with 2880×1440 pixel HQ resolution..I like the big unlocking sensor on the back, that unlocks your phone when you put your finger on the reader

Screen

The 5-inch display has 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution, while the XL version has 6-inch 2880 x 1440 pixel resolution, and both versions are covered by a Corning Gorilla Glass 5.I like the new always-on display, which shows the date, time and notification icons, and the overdue double-tap-to-wake-the-screen functionality.

It’s now a lot easier to see what’s going on with your phone before you wake it up. I like how the screen presents the images and the responsiveness it has while taking photos. The colors that it presents literally make the work go easy and every ordinary photo as if it has been taken by a professional.

Camera

The front camera is 8MP and has fixed focus, while the rear one is 12.2MP with lots of built-in options. It has optical and electronic image stabilization, autofocus with laser and dual pixel phase detection. If you want to record a video, you can choose whether to use the front camera which is up to 1080p at 30fps, while the rear one could record videos in 4k at 30fps! The way how it catches and presents the colors is incredible.

Specs and performance

From Google made everything possible to not let down their fans, and I have to confess that they did their job perfectly. The way how this machine performs is incredible, similar to last year model. The processor used in this one is the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 with Adreno 540 GPU. The central processor unit is a 64bit Octa Core clocked at 2.35 GHz. According to memory, some additional internal storage was added.

Unlike last year, this one the two models have 64GB and 128GB internal storage and 4GB RAM. The phone does not support memory SD cards, but from Windows made sure that there is enough space for you to store all your images or videos in a cloud, which has unlimited storage space and be reached whenever you want. The power-saving of the device is incredible, as well as the charging. It is really powerful, but it does not require much power.

You can keep it on the charger for 15 mins and when you unplug it, it will last up to 7 hours, before you have to recharge it.The battery on the Pixel 2 is 2700 mAh, while on the Pixel 2 XL is 3520 mAh, and both are securely enclosed, so you wouldn’t be able to take the battery out without a pair of screwdrivers. I won’t advise you to open it up on your own because if you have warranty you risk its legitness.
