Microsoft Working On A New Xbox Controller!

Lately, Microsoft is into bringing back some retro-looking controllers & peripherals for its consoles, following the trend of the whole industry. People nowadays like to get a feel for what it was 20-30 years ago, and companies are making a huge amount of money out of that. There is a report from Windows Central, stating that Microsoft is under the construction of a new Xbox controller model, which is something that I see for the first time and I have some mixed feelings about it …

It has a lot of functions, some of which I do not know why they are there at all. The first thing you see when you look at the image is that the controller has some kind of a throwback feel, combined with some new and never seen button alignment. The “A” & “B” buttons are taking up 70% of the controller surface, while on the upper lid you will find a bunch of dedicated buttons, each one doing a different function.

The big A & B buttons are programmable, and you can also see some LED lightning, showing up which of the gaming modes you’ve chosen to be active currently. I like the idea of integrating different gaming modes/presets into the controller, but I don’t see why they made those two buttons so big and the four-way D-pad so small…

However, at least there is a USB port and 3.5mm headphone jack on the side. We will be able to get a more in-depth view of the particular controller next month, at the E3 Expo – we will keep you updated! I believe that the controller will sell well, judging by the other retro-looking controllers, but we will see how it will turn out if it is a truth at all.
