iMac Pro: Impressions After 1 Week Of Use

We’re all familiar with the recent release of the highly expected iMac Pro and it really quickly gained fans worldwide. There were dedicated Apple users who were impatient to get their hands on it and there were artists who instantly fell in love just by seeing what the machine looks like and how exactly does it perform.

The main improvements from the last iMac are not hiding in the looks. This new iMac Pro looks really similar to its predecessor, but on the inside, there’s a beast hiding that will help you develop your creativity in all ways. In the following article, we’ll take a look at the impressions of Marques Brownlee from his first week of use.

What’s on the inside?

This new professional-grade iMac is created and designed in a way, that it could come up to the expectations and even answered to most of the demands that users had about the previous model and added them to this one, which shows that Apple cares about its fans and will not let them down. The aim of this machine is to create a platform for designers and artists to creatively work on and express their ideas, so it has to support the latest and power-requiring programmes. To achieve their aim, from Apple knew, that they had to put powerful hardware but they went out of the roof!

This is the actual configuration that’s been sent by Apple to Marques and he explains that it works phenomenal, as we expected. The machine is surely powerful, but what’s the biggest flaw with this machine is that it’s non-upgradable. Having to add all these hardware means that from Apple had to re-design the whole device on the inside. They surely did but you can’t open it up and take a look on the inside, nor can you expand the RAM memory storage, but with a beast like this, I don’t really know whether you will even have to upgrade it.

It is surely more powerful than the original iMac and it will perfectly suit people whose craft is to edit videos, pictures, make professional movie scenes and etc. This machine is powerful enough to maintain and offer incredible performance and reliability to those using it. The processors that they used are astonishing and here’s a quick comparison to the Mac Pro and the fully available specs right now ( except the 18-core version that’ll start shipping soon ).

What’s on the outside?

As I said, with a machine like this the performance reliability is assured, but how did they pack this thing inside remains a mystery. The main thing that gives away the iMac Pro from the last released iMac is the Space Gray colorway and the keyboard that comes with the package. Otherwise, unless you try out the performance, it will be hard for you to differ the two models.

The packed inside hardware means that they have to come up with a new type of ventilation system, as the old one was not good enough for the new additions. They sure came up with an idea by adding a new type of ventilation system that hides in the back of the 27-inch Retina 5K display with 5120 х 2880 pixel resolution and being able to cool the components 80% time more. The other difference is slightly in the ports system that also happens to be on the back ( where it was on the previous model). The ports include a 3.5 mm headphone jack, SDXC card slot, 4 x USB type 3, 4 x Thunderbolt type 3 and an Ethernet port. This means that there are 2 more USB-C ports and big cooling vents underneath that extend from the one end to the other.

The keyboard that’s used for all the operations is great with a big touchpad on the left that lets you freely move and fly through the pages and increases your productivity to the fullest. It is extremely ergonomic and thin, as well as the mouse that comes along with the packaging. Both feel great and users don’t complain at all, but you can add a mouse by your own personal preference if you don’t feel the one that’s included.

The price of $5100 for this product was not welcomed by all, but I support Marques’s opinion that for this hardware offered, you can’t expect anything different. All of the components are new and at a top-notch level, so if you want to enhance your workflow, this system will be of good use. It will turn into profit if you put the needed work and effort into the production process that you’re after, so you have to bear in mind that if you want your business and work to grow, you have to invest in it first. The price was expected to not suit all, but from Apple said that its main purpose is to suit producers and artists so that answers the question on its own.
