Inte’s Helicopter-Drone Hybrid – Taxi In The Air

We can’t be sure whether the idea of flying taxis will be realized soon and will appeal to the mass, but I am definitely sure that the whole concept looks amazing! At the recently held CES 2018 event, one of the leading software/hardware companies (Intel) made a showcase of their newest drone-like helicopter, that has a different, creative, innovative and important purpose.

It looks like a giant drone, that’s able to carry up to 2 passengers in the air and is only powered by a big battery. The main point of creating it, is to make the transport in big cities easier and could revolutionary help with the creation of life-saving vehicles, that’ll be able to quickly get from one point to another and transport someone who’s rushing for help.

Intel CEO Brian Krzanich might not have one manufactured by his company but during his CES keynote, he demonstrated Volocopter’s flying tech of which he was a proud first passenger in December 2017.In a partnership with Volocopter that started years ago, Intel has provided all the flight control solutions required for the drone to fly on its own and assure safety.

The latest production from the German company is Volocopter 2X. The 450Kg multicopter consists of 18 rotors and it’s capable of flying up to 17 miles on a single charge with a cruising speed of 43 mph (max speed 62 mph). For now, the limited range can be compensated using the quickly swappable batteries. It is an amazing alternative of cars, as this type of transport won’t harm the nature and is very ecological. It is only bad to nature because of the big battery, but if you throw the battery at the specially created places, you will be able to sleep well, knowing that you haven’t harmed the mother earth.

I really hope to see this idea realise in near future, because as human beings we have to not wait for the problems to hit us, but we have to manage the risks and solve the problem before it becomes huge and unsolvable.
